This company had long been destined for greatness. In 1924, German born brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler, formed the company Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. They manufactured sports and casual footwear, gaining recognition, when in 1928 in Berlin, the winner of 4 Olympic medals, Jesse Owens, did so wearing Dassler Spikes.
This company is a trailblazer in the arena of sporting apparel. It was the first sports footwear manufacturer to incorporate the technologically advanced vulcanization production technique into the design of its boots in 1960, and in 1962, Pele helped Brazil win the World Cup in Chile, for the second time running.

The entire Brazilian football team were kitted out in King boots, made from kangaroo leather, the company being the first to use this type of material. Top athletes like Usain Bolt, winner of 3 gold medals in the 2012 Olympics, are associated with this brand and Arsenal recently forged an alliance with the company, giving it the license to develop all Arsenal branded merchandise.

Puma was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The company’s origins are famously linked to a bitter family feud, as Rudolf's brother, Adolf "Adi" Dassler, went on to establish his own competing brand, Adidas, in the same town. The separation sparked a fierce rivalry that fuelled decades of innovation and competition between the two global powerhouses. Rudolf initially called his company "Ruda," a portmanteau of his name, but later changed it to Puma, wishing to associate his products with the speed and agility of the feline predator.
Puma develops a range of proprietary technologies for its performance footwear, with a focus on cushioning and responsiveness. One of its key innovations is NITROFOAM™ ELITE, a nitrogen-infused foam that provides exceptionally lightweight and high-rebound cushioning. In one of the most iconic marketing moments in sporting history, Puma succeeded in getting its football boots noticed on the world stage despite an informal agreement with Adidas not to sign the Brazilian superstar Pelé. Just before the opening whistle of the 1970 FIFA World Cup final, Pelé famously paused play to tie his Puma King boots, giving millions of viewers a dramatic close-up. Puma’s ascent in both basketball and streetwear is intrinsically tied to its collaborations with legendary athletes. In 1973, NBA star Walt "Clyde" Frazier requested that Puma design a lighter, wider version of their Suede shoe. The resultant model, the "Puma Clyde", became the first ever signature shoe for an NBA player. This partnership established Puma’s standing within basketball culture and cemented the Suede as a streetwear classic, a trainer admired by b-boys and hip-hop artists alike for its sleek style and resilience.

Top fashion designers Steve McQueen and Mihara Tasuhiro teamed with this company, to design outstanding collections. Steve McQueen's trainers are edgy and urban in style, while Mihara Tasuhiro's trainers are best described as Avant Garde, unique and very striking.
The brand also has a celebrity following with Fashionista stars Elle Winter and Camila Cebello, wearing the Sky Wedge and Mihara Sneakers. Puma is concerned with the environment and takes its initiatives, like Cotton Made in African (CMIA) very seriously.
